*..very pleasing..*
As a reader of many avalon books, i have to say that this book is one of the good ones! It is not only filled with tender moments, but the plot is very well developed. The heroine goes through many internal changes to reach the point when she can really say that she loves the hero. The journey to this point is filled with touching moments that are definitly worth reading! Don't miss out on this one!

Faces and Places from Avalon's Past
Published in Paperback by Avalonspast Publishing (06 January, 2003)
Authors: David Coskey and Dave Coskey
Average review score:

It Shore Is A Good Read
Dave Coskey is one of the biggest sports honchos in Philly, the creative talent who has been in charge of the 76ers' marketing and PR departments, and now the Flyers' as well. But you wouldn't know it from this book, since he modestly declines to mention his day job. "Faces and Places From Avalon's Past" features Dave's remarkable collection of photographic images from the early-1900s development town that now is among the most exclusive on the Jersey Shore. Not only are there then-and-now visuals, but the book is chock full of anecdotes and profiles of Avalon's most important figures in its formative years. The book is a labor of love that began as a high school project nearly 30 years ago. Dave's exhaustive research is evident throughout. The best part is that you don't have to have any personal experience with Avalon to enjoy the book and get a taste of life in America in the first half of the 1900s. He plans to publish a sequel that will cover more recent decades, and I look forward to it.

Falcon's Return by Rebecca K. O'Conner
If anyone is looking for a fabulous book read, I would suggest Falcon's Return. I fell in love with the character of Marshall and Brooke. Ms. O'Conner left me wishing that I could jump into the book and meet these characters. It was touching and you not only felt when they experienced sadness but when they were elated with joy. From the first page to the last, I didn't want to put the book down. Even the birds made the whole story a must read. I find myself still thinking of the characters even days after reading this fantastic book. I give it a five stars and two thumbs up. Believe me, read it, you will enjoy it.

Glastonbury: Ancient Avalon, New Jerusalem
Published in Paperback by Rider (September, 1992)
Author: Anthony Roberts
Average review score:

A great introduction to Arthurian related authors
A superb introduction to the Arthurian Mysteries, the Holy Grail, Early Christianity in Britain, Terrestrial Alignment (Leys), the Somerset Zodiac and Sacred Proportional Architecture!

I think the book provides a good starting point for those keen to learn more about the above subjects but feel it's all too complex and vast an area (which it is but that's why we love it!). A good way to decide on which area to concentrate your study efforts.

Also provides a good introduction to the better known writers in these fields. Don't worry, they will start to become more familiar as you read their other books.

This book 'chose me' in 1992 and after reading it I decided to move to the UK from New Zealand and thus began a 2 year field study (in between working) of the Arthurian and related subjects.

This book has proved to be a useful point of reference and has travelled with me while roaming around Somerset in my backpack between my Ordnance Survey maps and my lunch!

A great mix of writing styles and subjects.

Glitter Of Gold
This is a ten stars book. You will be turning the pages as Kent Conwell takes you once again on a fun filled exciting journey with three children to Ft Sill. What he thinks will be easy to take them turns out to be heavy on the heart. And when Margaret shows up, well things get even more exciting. The children are adorable and so well mannered that you can't help but fall in love with them. I laughed, I cried. The book was wonderful. I loved the children, Del, Margaret and his brother. This is a must read book. Kent Conwell has once again done it again!!!

Growing Season (Avalon Romance)
Published in Hardcover by Thomas Bouregy & Co (October, 1997)
Author: Mike Gaherty
Average review score:

Gentle mid-western love story
Growing Season by Mike Gaherty review by Kathy Maloney Growing Season is Mike Gaherty's first novel since retiring as a teacher of creative writing and journalism at Central High School. A small Iowa farm in the present is the setting for this midwestern romance. The story is gentle and refreshing. Readers who seek mayhemand murder must look somewhere else, thankfully. Those who take up the book will meet everyday people living ordinary lives in the familiar Midwest. Katie Rourke, the protagonist, is not just a risk-taker who makes decisions without always seeking advice from others. She is our daughter or niece or sister as we recognize traits of those we know and love best in her character. Gram is the grandmother readers will remember as their own, or will wish they could. She bakes apple pies, does embroidery and is as lively mentally as her granddaughter. Gram works to push Katie and Katie's former high-school sweetheart, David Cairn together at every opportunity. Only in the Midwest would someone's grandmother try to do this and make it work so believably. Katie returns to Willow Grove after taking a semester's leave of absence from her teaching. The memory of her parent's accident and funeral, only a month past, still is a fresh pain. Soon, Katie learns from the family banker that the farm and land will probably have to be sold to cover debts incurred by her late father. Katie is more than a red-haired, English teacher in Rockford, Illinois. She is a stubborn, optimistic, young woman...the type of person who should never be told she cannot accomplish something as this only serves as a challenge which must be met. Katie rather hastily decides she will leave her life of teaching and run the farm to keep the land in the family. As a young woman in her mid-twenties whose world has been teaching English, Katie finds few people believe she can accomplish the task by herself. David Carin, her neighbor and antagonist, is another challenge which Katie must somehow come to terms with. If only her memories of David as her first love wouldn't keep getting in the way. This story seems effortless because it is so full of natural people and normal events. The weather, the odd character or two, death, friendship, family, hard work, and love are those things which those who live in the Midwest take for granted because they know them so well. Reading this tender story of people who face down their fears and make life work, is like listening to stories about family members or spending time with a well-known friend. Growing Season by Mike Gaherty.
